Q: Is it possible to perform hair transplantation under general anaesthesia?

It is not necessary to undergo a hair transplant under general anesthesia, as it is not associated with severe pain and general anesthesia would put your body under unnecessary stress. The operation takes 6-8 hours under local anesthesia, during which you can watch TV, read or use your cell phone.

Q: Is it possible to perform a hair transplant in an area affected by alopecia areata?

With active or untreated alopecia, the hair may not grow in these areas. After successful treatment of your alopecia, hair often grows back on its own. If bald patches are still present as a result, a hair transplant is a good option.

Q: How many grafts can be implanted during one procedure?

The result of your hair transplant depends on the density of your hair and the density of the donor area. The number of grafts harvested from the donor area can vary between four thousand (4000) and five thousand (5000). In rare cases, it is even possible to extract up to six thousand (6000) grafts from the donor area.

Q: Does hair transplantation cause extreme pain?

In most cases, you will only feel a very slight pain for a few seconds while the local anesthetic is being injected. Afterwards, the hair transplant itself no longer causes any pain.
